I really admire artists that can create the most appealing paintings in a matter of bush strokes.  The simple elegance can look easy to replicate, but in most cases it's been refined over many years of practice.  With my own work I'd like to think there is a general naivety that comes through.  When I explain why I like painting, I sometimes mention how I am trying to return to a childlike state through the process.  This painting embraces simplicity and colour, conjured from imagination.

Picasso famously said 'It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child.'
