I love the post impressionism movement, those artists just didn't give up on being who they wanted to be, and painting what they wanted to paint.  The palette of bold colours is something I'm very drawn towards, along with the often naive style. I painted this after looking through a beautiful book I have on post impressionism.  Somehow this mingled with a book I'd read by Sebastian Barry called Days without End.   Set during the American civil war it deals with love and leaving - having to leave.  Paintings used to tell stories and that's what I'm trying to do here, leaving ambiguity.  Who is reaching out to who? What is their relationship as they part ways, in the cold of winter. My love of colour and Kandinsky has inspired this piece. 

This painting is already framed in solid white washed wood, dry mounted (meaning the painting remains completely flat forever), using art glass (thick UV reflective glass ensuring the painting doesn't fade), mounted and framed with the best materials.
