Warming the Winter out of Things (Original, Signed and Framed)

There is a relief that comes over me in springtime, a kind of awakening as nature's breath warms the winter out of things.  The sunlight begins, to me at least, to seem more refined, to have a happier tint - and the colours that remained muddy and bleak throughout winter begin to split open with yellow, pink, white, blue and purple petals, blossoms, crocus, daffs, snowdrops all crisp and vibrant.  

In this personal state I am minded of how closely we must relate to the seasons and how I myself, as I cannot speak for everybody, am affected by the resurrection of longer days and the promise of summer to come. 

I believe we are way more linked to nature than we perhaps realise, I sometimes imagine that perhaps we drag along with us invisible roots interlinking us.  It's an unbelievable outrage that those in charge of global economies are not working relentlessly to cherish and nurture our environment.

There is scientific evidence that root systems in trees and plants communicate, they are called mycorrhizal networks.  In forests, trees have a collective conscience and cooperative by sending nutrients to those in need of them, they even grow their branches in ways that will allow more light to come through and support younger, growing trees.  This happens at a slow, gentle pace and there is something very wonderful in stopping to consider that. 

I love trees and woods and this painting, conjured from imagination is my attempt to articulate all the feelings encapsulated for me in what I have written above, the very inspiration and magic of Springtime.
